The Chinese actor, stuntman, producer and a specialist in martial arts will be awarded with an honorary Oscar at the film awards ceremony next year.
Along with Chan, the lifetime achievement award will be given to the editor Anne V. Coates, the casting director Lynn Stalmaster and documentary maker Frederick Wiseman.
Jackie Chan’s film career spreads through five decades. His breakthrough from the Asian film arts to Hollywood was in 1980 in “The Big Brawl”. From that point on he was a part of many successful movie hits. He is most famous for the roles in the “Rush Hour” and “Kung Fu Panda” franchises.
They will be honored at the Academy’s Governors Awards, in Los Angeles, on 12 November.
