How Kate Paid Tribute To Diana At Archie’s Christening

On Saturday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex christened their firstborn son Archie. The christening was an intimate affair, with only a few close friends and relatives being in attendance, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. There was no media coverage of the event, so the only photograph we got from the event is from the day after when they released the official family portrait.

In it we can see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with baby Archie, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles, Camilla, Meghan’s mom Doria Ragland and Lady Diana’s two sisters  Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes. But the thing royal fans caught is how the Duchess of Cambridge honoured the late Diana. She was wearing Diana’s Collingwood Pearl Earrings, which the late Princess wore to Harry’s christening in 1984. Not only was that a touching gesture, but the earrings also complemented her look perfectly. Kate was wearing a stylish pink Stella McCartney dress, which she teamed with fuchsia heels and a matching bespoke Juliette Botterill headband.

Harry And Meghan Release Official Photos Of Archie’s Christening

As expected, Harry and Meghan followed all the christening traditions, with baby Archie wearing the same replica Honiton gown that has previously been worn by his cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The replica gown was commissioned in 2004 by the Queen and has been in royal use ever since. The original, which was made for Queen Victoria in 1841 for the christening of her daughter, Princess Victoria, was deemed too fragile for use so a replica was made. Over 163 years, 62 royal babies had worn the gown.

Following the ceremony, a Royal Communications spokesperson said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to share the happiness of this day, and would like to thank everyone around the world for their ongoing support. They feel so fortunate to have enjoyed this special moment with family and Archie’s godparents.”

There are parts of the ceremony that are still a mystery, like who turned out to be Archie’s godparents. Among those in attendance was Harry’s beloved former nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke(now Pettifer). Other possible candidates that have been speculated by fans are Jessica Mulroney and Jake Warren.
