Last week, Federer revealed he had recently played tennis with Prince George. He described the little royal as a “cute boy” who had “good” technique.

For the occasion, Kate wore a seriously chic, short-sleeved, baby blue dress in a crepe fabric by Emilia Wickstead. William coordinated with her look by wearing a light blue shirt underneath his gray suit.

As Kate did yesterday, they arrived earlier to chat with Wimbledon workers and wave to fans, with the final not due to start until 2pm.

They met with senior figures from the All England Lawn Tennis Club this afternoon ahead of the clash.

They also met with four of the club’s team of ball boys and girls.

Despite being friends with Federer, Kate and William were tight lipped about who they were hoping to see lift the trophy as they made their way to Centre Court.

Dave Knights, head of the service stewards at the championships, said: “They gave no indication at all about who they wanted to win.”

Kate, who is a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, will be making her third visit to the championships in SW19 this year.
