Kate Revealed One Struggle She Had With Charlotte

Kate Middleton has always been a down-to-earth mother, trying to raise her children in the most normal way possible. She has always been one of the more relatable royals, especially with her hands-on approach. While visiting Cumbria in the Lake District on Tuesday, Kate talked about her four-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte and how she prepared her for nursery before setting off on her trip, but she also revealed that she some trouble with a certain something that morning.

The royal had been admiring a little girl’s hairstyle, and told her: “I love your plants!” The mum-of-three then added: “I tried to do a plait on Charlotte this morning, and it didn’t really work very well.”

It seems that Kate Middleton is being modest about her abilities at styling Charlotte’s hair as her past appearances tell a different story. For example, on Saturday the young royal was seen with not one but two different hairstyles during the morning celebration, including plants. While she was inside Buckingham Palace waiting with her two siblings, Prince George and Prince Louis, her hair was styled in a half-updo with a blue ribbon.

But for when she exited on the balcony with the rest of the royal family, her hair had been changed into a different style, with two miniature plaits tied together with the ribbon. The entire close royal family was there, from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to Prince Charles and of course the Queen. Kate and William were there as a full family of five to watch the flyover, their first ever royal engagements together.

This wasn’t the only time Kate spoke about her only daughter during her visit to Cumbria. As the Duchess was on a walkabout, she talked about how Charlotte was very excited about starting school in September. She will be going to the same school as her older brother Prince George, who will be Year 2 when she begins reception class, and her cousin Maud, at St Thomas’s Battersea.

The royal cousins get along very well, with the trio being together in the young bridal party at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s royal wedding in October. Charlotte will be finishing her final year of Willcocks Nursery in Kensington very soon.

During the day trip, Kate also revealed that she and William had recently taken their children to the Lake District during the half term holidays. One wellwisher disclosed: “She said that it was raining a lot and was a long way from their home in Norfolk, but they love it here.” Schoolboy Jack Mumberson, 11, added: “She said that her children love coming here and walking in the fells. She told us how nice the Lake District was and how lucky we were to live so close to the mountains.”
