However, Prince William and Kate Middleton even as newlyweds, were quite stoic when it came to PDA. Unlike Prince Harry and Meghan, we can’t see them doing more than walking or standing side by side.
However, there is one photo that went viral over the holidays. It is because everyone noticed something unusual about Prince William and Kate. The photo of Prince William, Kate, Prince Harry, and Meghan’s Christmas walk to the church was taken by the single mother in the crowd.
We are not surprised to see Harry and Meghan walking arm and arm. But there was a surprise when people noticed Prince William and Kate holding hands. According to Pop Sugar, the phot has “everybody freaking out.” Some even comment that there’s romance in the air and it is “catchy.”
Still, it is not a first time that a member of the royal family has broken the tradition this year to show a little romance for the public. And that is Queen Elizabeth herself. She offered up terms of affection for her husband, Prince Philip. It happened on her televised Christmas message. The headlines were screaming, “Queen gushes over Prince Philip” with her adoring words describing the Prince.
Most of the people think that Harry and Meghan have spread a little bit of romance in the royal family. And on the other hand, William and Kate, even Queen Elizabeth II stick to the traditional ways and showing just a wee bit of a public display of affection.

The popular Netflix show The Crown is showing us how the royals and their romances from years gone by, and it is quite the contrast. When it’s about Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip they have a very private relationship. They didn’t show any PDA while they were young. And they still don’t today. Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas speech wasn’t much when paying tribute to her husband. Still, it was a nice shout-out for him.
“Even Prince Philip has decided it’s time to slow down a little, having, as he economically put it, done his bit. But I know his support and unique sense of humor will remain strong as ever as we enjoy spending Christmas with our family, and look forward to welcoming new members into it next year.”
Many describe Queen Elizabeth’s speech as a “romantic gesture” to her husband of 70 years.
