Prince Harry Vows To Finally Meet His Father-In-Law As Thomas Shows Deep ‘Regret’.
Meghan Markle is currently planning to travel to Mexico with Prince Harry so that her husband can finally meet her father, a royal expert has stated. Thomas Markle recently went public and admitted to the media that he will “always regret” his no-show at the royal wedding, where he was supposed to be the one to walk his daughter down the aisle last Saturday.
It is still unclear when the meeting will happen, but according to reports it will be “soon”.
That would mark the first time Prince Harry and Meghan’s father will be face to face. Her father divorced Meghan’s mom Doria when she was just six years old.
It was quite the mess leading up to the wedding, with Thomas Markle reportedly working with the paparazzi to stage photos of himself. But after all, it didn’t seem to affect the wedding much as everything turned out great.
“I hear one of the things they want to do sooner than later – and now that they’re married – is to go and see Thomas Markle, who is recovering from a heart operation,” said Katie Nicholl, royal expert, and author of Harry: Life, Loss, and Love, told Entertainment Today.
However, it would appear the exact time of the trip has not yet been scheduled.
“We don’t know when this trip might happen. …I’m hearing from people close to Meghan and Harry that they’re very keen to do it, added Katie.
“He feels it’s very important that he gets to meet Thomas. Of course, Meghan — who’s been really concerned about her father’s health — is keen to go see him as soon as possible.”
The news of the possible Mexico trip comes after Thomas expressed “regret” over not attending the royal wedding.
Thomas told TMZ that he would “always regret” that he did not attend the wedding.
“The service was beautiful and it’s history,” he told the American publication.
“I will always regret not being able to be there and not being able to hold my daughter’s hand.
“My baby girl is a duchess and I love her so much. When you watch your child get married, every thought goes through your mind, every memory from the first day she was born, the first time I held her.”
“Now I pray that Harry and Meghan can go on a nice honeymoon and rest and relax, and all of my relatives will just shut up about everything.”
Thomas was initially the one who was supposed to walk Meghan Markle down the aisle, but thankfully Prince Charles stepped up to walk Meghan down the aisle at the last minute.
The news was announced in an update from Kensington Palace which read: “Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St. George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day. The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way.”
It came after Meghan Markle’s father Thomas Markle Sr, 73, dropped out of the wedding, for some undisclosed reasons.
There was some speculation that Meghan’s mother will be the one who will walk Meghan down the aisle instead of Thomas.
Charles’ kind gesture will not, in fact, be the first time he has walked a bride down the aisle on her wedding day.
Prince Charles previously walked close family friend Alexandra Knatchbull down the aisle at her wedding to Thomas Hooper in 2016.
