Our favorite onscreen couple Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are considered one of the most popular TV couples at the moment. Their undeniable acting prowess and their natural chemistry have even sparked rumors that they are dating off-screen as well. However, more recent rumors suggest that Sam and Caitriona might part ways after Outlander season 4.

Before the end of 2017, Just Jared reported that Sam Heughan teased what is to come from his character in the new year to the fans. Via his official Instagram account, the Outlander Season 4 star shared a black-and-white photo of himself sporting a mustache together with another man. “Looking forward to the new year like …. where’s the water/ whiskey?!” the on-screen partner of Caitriona Balfe wrote in the caption.
The post got thousands of likes and comments from fans in no time, and the fans were wondering what else is in store for our favorite Scottish actor in the upcoming year. “Happy New Year, Sam! In the New Year I wish you good, happiness, sincere smiles, new meetings, interesting works, lots of money, and I want to go to Scotland, to you!????????????????????⭐️????,” one fan said.
.While somewhere busy wishing Sam good luck, other were out speculating that Outlander won’t be Sams only project in the new year, maybe a new movie or commercial.
Because of this, some fans have guessed that Sam Heughan might possibly leave the Starz series Outlander after its season 4. This also sparked another rumor that Outlander will only go on for 4 seasons, and that it will be canceled. This is also fueled by recent reports that Caitriona Balfe is already engaged.
The Scottish Sun shares that a certain journalist named Melissa Hoyer claims that Caitriona Balfe is soon to tie the knot with her boyfriend Tony McGill. The reporter shared a photo of the two of them, stating that she is happy for her and wishes her all the best. Sadly the post was deleted after just a few hours.
Despite all these claims that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are going to leave the show, Entertainment Weekly has reported in November 2017 that Starz is in early talks to renew the series for another season. Sony TV’s co-president of programming Chris Parnell said that they do not want fans to experience another Droughtlander. “In order to keep this show year by year and not have a Droughtlander, we had better start hustling on season 5 right now,” he said.
