Supernatural: 16 Life Lessons We’ve Learned From Dean Winchester

Supernatural, the show with 13 seasons, has gained a cult following. The main focus of the show is Sam and Dean Winchester, two brothers, fighting the supernatural, where the show gets its name from.

However, fans of the show will tell you that there is more to the show than meets the eye. The protagonists are always fighting internally. What follows are a few extracts from Dean.

  1. What’s dead should stay dead.

It’s better to leave the dead as they are, you cannot bring them back. The only thing you can do is move on and this doesn’t only apply to the deceased. Don’t force yourself on fixing things, it’ll only cause psychological damage.

This is pretty self-explanatory, however, it has a deep meaning. Women are not the only ones that suffer from psychological damage from not having a proper father. What’s worse, men are often looked down when they try to cope with a bad childhood.

They are different and should be taken as such, even when they often go together.

  1. Blood doesn’t make your family.

It doesn’t matter if you’re relatives. It doesn’t matter if you’re brothers. What matters is the people that are always there for you, even in the hardest times. The family is those people that give you the reason to keep fighting.

Life is not easy, and it’s usually a mess with many problems. Laughter puts these problems aside for a while. Life shouldn’t be taken that seriously.

Life is hard. And many times, you just can’t handle it. It’s okay to cry it out, but remember to never give up.

Intelligence doesn’t come from reading books or spending days over encyclopedias. The many skills you have are also important and are different forms of intelligence.

Codependency can go both ways, good or bad. It’s good to have someone you can trust and someone who will do everything in their power to keep you going. However, if that person is lost, you will start to feel depressed and sad. It’s always good to fight for yourself.

No one is stopping you to do the things you love. You can be a clown with pink underwear, as long as you’re doing what you love. And anyone that disagrees should shut up.

  1. Self-Love is a journey.

Trying to cope with yourself after experiencing some traumas can be difficult, but never give up.

You’re the one in control of your life. If someone tries to change that, don’t let them.

Always let someone that’s above you when they’re being annoying.

Keep fighting. When Death knocks on the door, don’t answer it.
