How Princess Beatrice And Edo Came Up With The Name For Their Baby Daughter

Nearly two weeks after giving birth, Princess Beatrice announced the name of her baby daughter. “We are delighted to share that we have named our daughter Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi,” she tweeted alongside an image of her daughter’s footprints. “We are all doing well and Wolfie is the best big brother to Sienna.”

In keeping with tradition, the baby girl’s middle name is a sweet nod to Beatrice’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth. Meanwhile, the first name Sienna was a more unexpected choice.

But, a friend of the couple explained to HELLO! Magazine: “They were looking for an Italian name which started with an S for Sarah, to honour the Duchess [Sarah Ferguson], and also reflected the golden rust colour of both the Duchess’s hair colour and Beatrice’s, which the new baby shares,” they said.

Mr Mapelli Mozzi said: “Our life together has just begun, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things that await us.

Beatrice and Edoardo announced the birth of their daughter, Sienna, through the royal family’s social media accounts, though withheld her name.

“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London,” read the statement, released on September 20.

“The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.”

Baby Sienna will be given the Italian title of Nobile Donna, which translates to Noble Woman. Edoardo, whose official title is Count, is from a family that was part of the Italian nobility before the country became a republic in 1946.
