Lady Gaga this year was again in charge for the Super Bowl Halftime show.
Gaga is known for her social activism in the past, and many were expecting from Gaga to deliver a statement reflecting her own views on current political climate. But Lady Gaga surprised everyone and manage to cheer everybody up with her performance.
She started off big, on the rooftop of Houston’s NRG stadium. Up there she opened up with a simple medley of “God Bless America” and “This Land Is Your Land”. Followed by the last couple of lines of Pledge of Allegiance while drones in the sky behind her shined in red and blue light.
As she concluded, the drones behind formed the flag pattern. This opening was found patriotic and managed to please viewers of all stripes.
From the rooftop of the stadium, Gaga wearing a silver bodysuit and anchored by cords jumped through the roof into the stadium. She immediately started with her hit “Poker Face”. As soon as she touched the ground, a group of dancers joined her and danced through a mixture of her hits, including “Born This Way”, “Just Dance” and “Telephone”.
Unlike other shows, this one was powered only on choreography, pure energy and talent. There were no tricks, no special guests and just a regular dose of effects provided by fireworks and torches.
In the middle of the show, Lady Gaga slowed down, sat at a piano and performed “Million Reasons”. She even found time to give a shout-out to her parents.
Despite being fan of costumes, Lady Gaga kept it simple. The singer changed only one time. She replaced her bodysuit for a two piece outfit which matched the bodysuit colors.
For her final song, she sang “Bad Romance” and as the song ended, outside the stadium fireworks exploded. Gaga left the crowd with a reminder “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
Super Bowl LI was held in NRG Stadium in Houston on 5th February, hosting New England Patriots vs. Atlanta Falcons.
