How I Met Your Father One Step Closer To Being Given Green Light

How I Met Your Mother spinoff has got a new writer and edges closer to being given the go-ahead.

Alison Bennett has written FX’s romantic comedy series You’re The Worst. Now it is time for the task of rebooting How I Met Your Mother.

This spinoff is the third try after the popular TV show went off the air in 2014, after nine seasons.

The first attempt was called How I Met Your Dad. It had a pilot episode in 2014 where Greta Gerwig and Meg Ryan were playing one of the main roles and helmed by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas – the creators of the original series.

CBS made a decision not to pick up the show.  As an alternative, it tried changing the name to How I Met Your Father. This Is Us writers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger were hired.

That spinoff was canceled too. Considering this, Aptaker and Berger have moved on to projects at NBC.

How I Met Your Mother is one of the most watched TV shows in 20th Television’s history. It was about a father’s attempt to share to his children the story behind his marriage.

Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris played the main roles.

The new spinoff would not be traditional. However, it will be a brand new take on the premise with new characters.

It will also show the same storytelling device as the original series of a person telling the story of how they and their spouse met.

There are no more details on whether the show will be finally given the go-ahead at 20th, or who would play the main roles.
