A little bit unusual tradition. Neil Patrick Harris takes a prop from every show as a souvenir.
Neil Patrick Harris revealed his “secret” to People Magazine, claiming that he tries to take a prop from every show.
The latest addition to his collection is a painting of a snake from A Series of Unfortunate Events. The painting form the American drama television series based on the children’s novel series by Lemony Snicket found the perfect place in Neil’s home. As he explained: “We have a room in our house – it’s a den – and it’s in a very similar theme, so it’s now on the wall in our brownstone.”
But it’s the props from the How I Met Your Mother show that carry more value. The HIMYM souvenirs have both practical and sentimental purpose.
The reason for him collecting the props from the shows is relive the great times in the future. Neil Patrick Harris says that when he is 90, someone can walk him around and say: “Remember this brand with your initials?” [Referring to a scene from Harold & Kumar when he branded a stripper’s ass] And it might spark some sort of memory in his brain.
