Kate’s Friend Names Her First Baby After One Of Cambridge Siblings

A close friend of the Duchess of Cambridge has named her new daughter the same as Kate’s middle child. Sophie Snuggs, who was only recently Sophie Carter before her wedding in 2018, just welcomed their first daughter with her husband Robert. And the couple decided to name their baby girl Amalia rose Charlotte. “SNUGGS On 21 June, to Sophie (nee Carter) and Robert, a daughter, Amalia Rose Charlotte,” the announcement in The Times read.

It is very likely that Sophie got the inspiration from the Cambridges when choosing a baby name for her newborn daughter. Sophie is a close friend of the royal couple, as well as their children, being the godmother of Princess Charlotte.

Charlotte, 4, was a bridesmaid at Sophie and Robert’s wedding at St Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Norfolk. Her older brother, Prince George also had a role, being a page boy at the wedding. Carole and Michael Middleton, Kate’s parents, were also in attendance at the wedding, as the then-pregnant Pippa was absent due to her pregnancy.

Kate and Sophie have been close friends for years and have been seen together at numerous events, such as at Wimbledon before Kate and William’s royal wedding. Sophie is in good relations with the rest of the family as well, being a guest at Pippa’s wedding to James Matthews in 2017 and again at Prince Harry’s royal wedding to Meghan Markle last year.

Sophie and her husband Robert had the honour of attending Christmas mass with the Middletons-and Her Majesty the Queen-at St Mary Magdalene church in Sandringham, 2017. Before her current husband, Sophie dated one of Prince William’s best friend, Thomas van Straubenzee, who is also one of Princess Charlotte’s godparents.
