Fearless Duchess Kate Meets Charlotte The Tarantula
The Duchess of Cambridge was unmoved by the giant spider that shares the same name as her daughter.
This Wednesday the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a day trip to Northern Ireland. There the royals met with students and young people, as well as hearing about community organizations. But the highlight of the whole day turned out to be a totally unplanned encounter with a giant spider who just so happened to share the same name with their daughter Charlotte.

The official Kensington Palace official social media accounts shared a photograph of the Duchess holding the hairy spider, along with the caption: “A surprise guest appearance from Charlotte the tarantula.”
In the background, we can also see Prince William keeping his distance, which might suggest that the Duke of Cambridge might not share Kateās enthusiasm for meeting the small creature. He, on the other hand, seems to have no problem with snakes as he was pictured holding one.
This unplanned detour came when they came across a petting farm during a trip to Ulster Universityās Magee Campus. While at the university the royals met with some of the nursing students, finally meeting them in person after they had a video call with them earlier this year.
Kate is keeping up with her great fashion streak, as only yesterday she rocked a great golden Jenny Packham gown for the James Bond premiere, and for today’s engagements she went with a casual purple suit.
āItās great to be back in Northern Ireland for a day in Derry-Londonderry hearing from young people about how life has been during the pandemic and meeting organizations working across communities,ā Kensington Palace posted in a tweet just after they arrived and the visit, which was embargoed until their arrival, was announced.
This is the first time the couple has visited this part of Northern Ireland, as the two had previously visited other parts of the country on a number of occasions such as in 2016 and 2019.
They arenāt the only royal that have visited the region in recent times, as Prince Edward and his wife Sophie also carried out engagements in Belfast only last week.
