The statement said: “The Duchess went into labour in the early hours of this morning. The Duke of Sussex was by Her Royal Highnesses’ side. An announcement will be made soon.”

At the end of April we got the news that Meghan and Harry have decided to keep the details of the birth plan private as they want to enjoy as much privacy they can during this special moment.

The statement read: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby.

“Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

However, a birth notice will be posted on an easel in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace, with information about the sex, weight, height, and time of birth, as is tradition.

Harry and Meghan

Harry and Meghan’s first child will be seventh-in-line to the throne. Keeping with tradition, Queen Elizabeth will the first one to know that that baby Sussex has arrived.

After Queen Elizabeth hears the happy news, it is the town crier’s job to announce it to the world.

Harry will also then inform the rest of his family and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.
