Meghan’s Pregnancy: What Change Has Meghan Gone Through?

Back in October, we got the good news that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child. The news came on the first day of the couple’s first overseas tour as a married couple, which saw then visit Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji.

And ever since the news broke out, all eyes have been on Meghan and her baby bump, as fans are anxious to welcome another baby into the much-loved royal family. So there isn’t much space for any slip-ups, as everything she does or any change she makes is noted right away. One change, in particular, is speculated to be due to her growing baby bump. Recently, Meghan decided to change her haircut, adjusting her style to incorporate layers into her long brunette locks. The reason behind this change might be due to the fact that her hair might be feeling different as she goes deeper in her pregnancy.

It is a known fact that pregnancy can have an effect on the hair, making it thicker. Hair expert Anabel Kingsley told Express.co.uk: “During pregnancy, raised oestrogen levels to keep strands in the anagen (growth) phase for longer.

“This means that fewer hairs are shed. As a result, many women find their hair gets thicker during pregnancy, especially at the roots and mid-lengths.”

But the Duchess should expect one more hairstyle change after giving birth.

Ms Kinglesy said: “After giving birth or stopping to breastfeed, oestrogen levels drop and return to normal.

“This can cause all the hairs retained during pregnancy to shed at once, resulting in a diffuse and often severe type of hair fall called post-partum hair loss.

“Due to the nature of the hair growth cycle, this usually occurs 6-12 weeks later.

“In a study we conducted, we found that approximately 50% of women will get partum hair loss – and we do not know why some women experience it and others do not.

“It can also occur after one pregnancy, but not another. It is impossible to predict.”

So, just like many women before her, Meghan might also be experiencing some hair loss after her pregnancy, but he is perfectly normal. Kate Middleton is no stranger to changing hairstyles during pregnancies, as she often changes her look when expecting. After the birth of her third child, Prince Louis, Kate had her long glossy hair cut shorter with choppy layers. Just like Meghan, the Duchess of Cambridge is also known for her flawless and chic style. So we might expect another change for the Duchess of Sussex after she gives birth too.

Meghan might also be experiencing what people call, a pregnancy glow, but Meghan has always had that warm glow.

Dr Adam Friedmann, the consultant dermatologist at The Harley Street Dermatology Clinic, states: “The ‘pregnancy glow’ some women experience during pregnancy may be due to a combination of things.

“There is quite a lot of fluid retention and that often gives the skin a more plump appearance which can contribute to the “glow“.

“Likewise, the blood vessels dilate through increased blood volume and this can give rise to a healthy looking pinkness.”
