Prince William And Kate Release Their 2023 Christmas Card Photo

No one does holiday cards quite like the royal family, and the Waleses are kicking off their season with a festive greeting. The newly released black and white photo (taken earlier this year by photographer Josh Shinner) features Prince William and Kate Middleton together with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The family is dressed in matching button downs, with only a Ralph Lauren logo visible on Prince George’s shirt.

On social media, the Prince and Princess wrote, “Ourfamily Christmas card for 2023,” adding a Christmas tree emoji and a red heart emoji.

The release of their holiday card follows King Charles and Queen Camilla sharing their holiday card, and the family’s appearance at the annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey last night. Spearheaded by Kate, this year’s service was dedicated in part to “those who work to support babies, young children and families in our communities across the UK,” in keeping with her Shaping Us initiative for early childhood development, so it was only natural that the Waleses would make the evening a family affair with all three kids attending alongside their mom and dad.

Last year marked the family’s first holiday as the Waleses, with their card serving as their first communication under their new de facto surname. Previously, William, Kate, and the kids had operated under the family name of Cambridge, but they took on the name Wales when Will and Kate were named the Prince and Princess of Wales following the death of Queen Elizabeth in 2022.

Though the royal family’s last name is technically Windsor, the trio of kids took on the name Wales as their school name from that point on—just as William and his brother Prince Harry did when they were young.
