Why Prince William And Kate Canceled BAFTAs Attendance
Prince William, who is president of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts, won’t be attending the BAFTAs for the second year in a row!
The Duke of Cambridge was due to attend the ceremony along with Kate Middleton, as he usually does, this Sunday at Royal Albert Hall in London. However, the Duke has left BAFTA organisers needing to make last-minute changes as he has declined the invitation due to “diary constraints”.
William typically walks the red carpet along with his wife Kate, delivering a speech praising the work of the film industry towards the end of the ceremony.
This will be the second year the Duke misses the BAFTAs, as last year he was due to record a video speech at the virtual ceremony, but was forced to cancel the appointment after the unfortunate passing of Prince Philip.
The 75th EE British Academy Film Awards will be celebrating those who rose above the rest of British and international film talent, it will also be the first time Australian actress Rebel Wilson hosts the awards.
“I am very honoured to be hosting the EE British Academy Film Awards in March, where Covid will no longer exist because it will clearly have been cancelled by then. It’s going to be so much fun!” said Wilson in a January interview.
Joking on her recent weight-loss journey the Australian continued: “I don’t wanna put any pressure on this – I know I’m not going to be funny because I am no longer fat. And besides, I’m not going to ‘sweat-it’ with nerves because I have a particular medical condition where I can’t sweat… or cause offence to people because of my adorable Australian accent.
“So basically I’ll just be there to hang out with Dame Judi Dench and together we’ll both try and bond with Daniel Craig. And yes, I do mean ‘Bond’.”
“This show will be an anniversary celebration of some important British film franchises such as HARRY POTTER and not such as CATS. Everybody’s going to love it, I’m sure! See you guys in March!” concluded Wilson.
