William And Kate Arrive In Pakistan For ‘Most Complex Royal Tour Ever’

Prince William and Kate have arrived in Pakistan for their most challenging overseas tour to date.

The Pakistan tour, which is being carried out at the request of the U.K.’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office, is taking place from October 14 to 18.

William and Kate arrived at Rawalpindi’s Nur Khan Air Base and were given a warm welcome by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Britain’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew along with other members of the foreign office.

Kate arrived in a culturally inspired look. She opted for an aqua blue bespoke flowing top and fitted pants by Catherine Walker. She paired it with nude heels, a matching clutch, and a pair of glittering drop-down earrings.

More than 1,000 Pakistani police officers have been deployed to secure the couple’s safety during their travels across the country.

This is the first royal tour to the country since 2006 when Prince Charles and Camilla travelled to Pakistan.

Kensington Palace has stated while the programme will “pay respect to the historical relationship between Britain and Pakistan, it will largely focus on showcasing Pakistan as it is today – a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation.”

“Throughout the tour, Their Royal Highnesses will visit programmes which empower young people, and organisations that help ensure they have the best possible start in life.”

“Access to quality education, particularly to girls and young women is one of the UK’s top priorities in Pakistan.

“The Duke and Duchess are looking forward to spending time meeting young Pakistanis, and hearing more about their aspirations for the future.”

Taking to Twitter, British High Commissioner in Pakistan Thomas Drew said it will be a “very exciting programme”.

“It will of course pay respect to the historical relationship between Britian and Pakistan. But it will focus largely on showcasing Pakistan as it is today: a dynamic, aspirational and forward looking nation,” he said.
