William And Kate Share Behind-The-Scenes Photo From Pakistan Tour
Prince William and Kate arrived in Pakistan late Monday for a five-day official tour. The couple stepped off the British Government’s Royal Air Force Voyager plane at the Rawalpindi’s Nur Khan Air Base where they were met by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi; Britain’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew along with other members of the foreign office.
Shortly after they touched down, William and Kate posted a behind-the-scenes photo of themselves disembarking the plane.
The photo shows the couple seen walking down the steps of the aircraft to an awaiting crowd of photographers. The stunning photo was captioned: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived in Pakistan!”
The post continued: “The Duke and Duchess’s first official visit to the country will pay respect to the historical relationship between Britain and Pakistan, but will largely focus on showcasing Pakistan as it is today — a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation.
“From the modern leafy capital Islamabad, to the vibrant city of Lahore, the mountainous countryside in the North, and the rugged border regions to the West, the visit will span over 1000km, and will take in Pakistan’s rich culture, its diverse communities, and its beautiful landscapes.”
After their official welcome, William and Kate headed off in a heavily-guarded convoy to their base for the week, the High Commissioner’s official residence in the capital, Islamabad.
Kate looked stunning as always as she opted for a culturally inspired look. She wore an aqua shalwar kameez, a traditional Pakistani outfit by Catherine Walker paired with nude heels.
This is the couple’s first tour of Pakistan, made at the request of the British government.
Kensington Palace has stated: “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will undertake an official visit to Pakistan between Monday 14th and Friday 18th October, at the request of The Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This will be Their Royal Highnesses’ first official visit to Pakistan.
“Whilst The Duke and Duchess’s programme will pay respect to the historical relationship between Britain and Pakistan, it will largely focus on showcasing Pakistan as it is today – a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation. From the modern leafy capital Islamabad, to the vibrant city of Lahore, the mountainous countryside in the North, and the rugged border regions to the West, the visit will span over 1000km, and will take in Pakistan’s rich culture, its diverse communities, and its beautiful landscapes.”
