Meghan and Prince Harry have announced the name of their baby son who was introduced to the world today. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex baby’s name has been announced as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
The couple announced the name on their official Instagram account. The statement reads: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child:
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor
“This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion.”
According to Babble and Baby Center, the name Archie has English origins and means “genuine and bold.”
And it’s funny the name actually already has ties to the British Royal Family. At the start of this year, cousin George apparently told a dog walker that he was called ‘Archie’.
Harrison, on the other hand, is a fitting tribute to the baby’s father. It literally means”son of Harry.”
Harry and Meghan followed in the footsteps of William and Kate. They revealed their son’s name just two days after Meghan gave birth. William and Kate did the same with George and Charlotte. However, they broke tradition in 2018, when they took four days to announce Louis’ name.
On Monday at 2pm, the Palace revealed that Meghan was in labour. And around 40 minutes later, they confirmed that she gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Baby Sussex arrived at 5.26am on Monday, weighing 7lb 3oz, and is thought to have been born at Frogmore Cottage, but there are some reports claiming the baby was delivered in a London hospital.
Harry and Meghan have been enjoying the experience of being new parents at their Frogmore Cottage home near the Queen’s Windsor Castle residence.
“It’s magic. It’s pretty amazing. I have the best two guys in the world, so I’m really happy,” Meghan said during their first photo call on Wednesday, in St. George’s Hall.
“He has the sweetest temperament,” she added. He’s really calm.”
Harry then quipped: “I don’t know where he gets that from!”
