Harry and Meghan’s most star-studded date night since they welcomed their baby boy in May is upon us. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex just arrived together at the London premiere of The Lion King.
The Duchess of Sussex looked stunning in in a chic black knee-length gown with sheer sleeves as she walked the yellow carpet. She teamed her dress with a black Gucci clutch and Aquazzura heels. Her hair was styled in a sleek bun. Husband Harry looked dapper in a suit with bow tie.
Even though Meghan is still on a maternity leave, this is her second outing she’s made this weekend. Just yesterday she, Kate and Pippa Middleton watched the Wimbledon ladies’ final.
Meghan has walked down many red carpets in her former days as an actress, but tonight’s film premiere is Meghan’s first as a royal.
Harry and Meghan will spend the evening mingling with A-Listers like Beyonce and Donald Glover who star in the updated Disney classic.
Sir Elton John, who helped create music for the original film, is also among attendees.
At the premiere, Prince Harry and Meghan met some of the cast and crew before watching the film.
The couple is attending the premiere in aid of conservation work through The Royal Foundation.
The Walt Disney Company announced the launch of a global conversation campaign called Protect the Pride. The aim is to raise awareness of dwindling lion numbers.
It will hope to raise awareness for the dwindling population of lions across Africa. The Royal Foundation will be involved with and support the campaign.
So, the Sussex couple will also chat with representatives from organizations doing ground-breaking work for conservation and the environment.
The news about Harry attending the Lion King premiere was revealed in late June:
“Prince Harry will attend the Euro premiere of @disneylionking on July 14, which is being held in support of his conservation work through The Royal [email protected] have also announced #ProtectThePride, a campaign to protect the dwindling lion population across Africa,” royal reporter Omid Scobie wrote on Twitter on June 28.
And of course, fans immediately began hopefully speculating that Meghan would be there too.
And just earlier this week, Omid Scobie, a royal Commentator, revealed that the Palace had confirmed that Meghan would, in fact, attend the event.
“Buckingham Palace confirm that Duchess Meghan will be joining Harry on the carpet for the #LionKing premiere this Sunday. And yes, @Beyonce’s people tell me that she will be attending. Expect the internet break down.”
