How Tall Are The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge?
Royal fans, or to be exact ‘true’ royal fans, are always up to date with any royal news and they know every tiny detail about their favourite royals. A question that was recently answered was just how tall Prince William and Kate Middleton are, often towering over the others in official photos.
Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is considered to be one of the tallest female members of the royal family, standing at 5’9. Most female members of the royal family are much shorter than her. For example, Princess Anne is around 5’6, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is thought to be 5’6, while Prince Edward’s wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, is reportedly 5’5.
The Queen herself, despite technically being on the top of the monarchy, is at the bottom part of the list when it comes to height, being one of the shortest at 5’3. Even with her small frame, the Queen manages to always be recognizable in any room due to her love of bold, bright outfits.
Robert Hardman, the Queen’s biographer, has said that she once revealed: “I can never wear beige because nobody will know who I am.”
Kate might be one of the tallest royals, but she is far from the only one. Her mother-in-law Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, is almost as tall as her, standing at 5’8. The late Princess Diana was also known for being a tall woman, standing at 5’10, much taller than the average height of women in the UK, which is 5’3.
Diana was actually the same height as her husband Prince Charles, although some photographs of the couple give the impression that she was actually shorter than him.
Diana seems to have passed on her genes to both of her children, Prince William and Prince Harry, who are both tall as well. Prince William is put around 6’3, making him the tallest member of the senior royals. He is taller than his father, Prince Charles, and his younger brother Prince Harry, with the royal standing at 6’1. On the other hand, both Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, Prince Charles’ brothers, are taller than their older brother, standing at 6feet tall. Their father, Prince Phillip, the Queen’s husband and oldest member of the royal family is also 6feet tall.
Prince William and Kate have three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. With the children only being 7, 5 and 2 respectively, it is a bit early to see if they will inherit both of their parent’s height, which is highly likely. At least we will have real future kings with a kingly presence.
