Jim Parsons Shares: Why Exactly The Big Bang Theory Is Still Popular
We are approaching season 11 of world’s biggest television show, The Big Bang Theory. The show’s popularity is constantly increasing and it’s stunning how long it has lasted.
The Big Bang Theory in its 10th season averaged 19 million viewers per episode and ended as the country’s highest-rated shows.
Now the question is, what is it about The Big Bang Theory that achieves ongoing top ratings and pulls in viewers year after year?
About that, an idea came to Jim Parsons’s min why the show is so popular.
With The Big Bang Theory heading into season 11 premiere later this month, the actor talked about the future of the show in an interview with Parade. Anyway, Jim Parsons plays, we believe people’s favorite brilliant theoretical physicist, Sheldon Cooper.
There are so many who can’t wait for what Young Sheldon has to offer (there is a voice-over narration, from Jim Parsons). Yet, the bigger pull is still The Big Bang Theory. And, that’s just how it should be.
The American sitcom ranks as TV’s most watched comedy between the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic. In March, the TV show it was renewed for its 11th and 12th seasons.
What’s the secret to The Big Bang Theory’s that keeps fans coming back?
According to Jim Parsons, the key to The Big Bang Theory popularity is the fact that the writing is the “perfect balance between thoughtful and funny.”
Talking about this mystery, Parsons also cited the consistent nature of the show.
“We’re not solving a new mystery every week, so you’re not gonna get a fresh story in that way,” Parsons told Parade about TBBT’s success.
“If you don’t want to watch these particular characters relate to each other, you’re not gonna want to come back.”
The Big Bang Theory has so many complexes, intelligent and funny characters. Starting from Sheldon, who will never allow anyone sit in his spot, way over to Penny (Kaley Cuoco), who wanted to become an actress and grew into a smart, pharmaceutical rep, who can somehow spar with all of the nerds across the hall, there is certainly a character for everyone to love.
