Order Of The Thistle Service:Kate Middleton Attended, But Where Was Meghan Markle?

Meghan Markle, 36, did not attend the Order of the Thistle event. The Duchess of Sussex was not at the event which was held this week, even though he sister-in-law Kate Middleton has attended in the past.

Both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry weren’t at the Order of the Thistle in Scotland, Despite neither of them having a royal engagement scheduled for the same day-so what gives?

Meghan’s sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, did not attend the event this year due to her being on maternity leave, having first attended the event back in 2012, after having just married Prince William.

A lot of other royals were there, including Queen Elizabeth II, 92, and Prince William, 36.

The reason why neither Meghan nor Harry attended the event is that Prince Harry doesn’t have the honor of being a Knight of the Thistle.

The Order of the Thistle is an ancient order of chivalry, considered by many the greatest in Scotland.

A service is held every two years in order to welcome new members-Knights and Ladies-to the order.

Prince William and Princess Anne, 67, both have the honor, which in turn enables them to attend this year.

Wearing traditional velvet robes and white plumed feather hats, they made their way through the crowds at Edinburgh.

Kate Middleton attended back in 2012 because she is married to Prince William.

However, Williams younger brother has yet to receive the honor. It is possible, though that Prince Harry will also get the honor in the future. He has not received a knighthood for the Order of the Garter either. That is why he and Meghan were absent from the service last June.

Recently, it was noted Meghan and Harry avoided holding hands at a public event.

They appeared at the Young Leaders Reception at Buckingham Palace.

But why was Prince Harry captured moving his hand away from Meghan’s? Harry appears to avoid Meghan’s hand in an awkward video from the event after she reaches for his.

The couple has been seen holding hands on a number of official engagements, most recently at the Malborough Hosue Commonwealth Youth event.

Etiquette Myka Meier, who is the founder and director of Beaumont Etiquette, explained Harry’s reluctance to hold hands now is said to be a sign of the couple “professionalism”.

Now they are married, Meghan is officially a member of the royal family.

“It is rare to see royal couples holding hands on official outings,” explained Myka.

“A more serious engagement would warrant a more serious level of professionalism, which each royal is sure to follow.”
