Prince William and Kate are attending The British Academy of Film and Television Arts- BAFTAs 2020. The couple appeared in high spirits as they walked the star-studded red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall tonight.
The annual event is the British equivalent of the Academy Awards. It honours the standout actors, actresses, directors, filmmakers, and movies of the year.
Prince William became President of the BAFTAs in 2010 and this marks his 10th year in the role. He will present BAFTA’s highest accolade, the Fellowship to American film producer Kathleen Kennedy; known for Star Wars, Jurassic Park and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
The attendees of this year’s BAFTAs have been asked to “dress sustainably”.
They are being encouraged to be a “voice for change” by re-wearing, renting or wearing vintage.
So, for the special occasion, Duchess Kate donned again her white and gold Alexander McQueen dress from the Malaysia 2012 visit. She combined it with Jimmy Choo Romy gold pumps.
After the Palace announced William and Kate’s appearance, Amanda Berry OBE, chief executive of the BAFTAs, said: “We are so pleased the duke and duchess will join us to celebrate another outstanding year in film.
“This year marks the duke’s 10th year as Bafta’s President and his involvement has been invaluable to the work we do, from launching our global new talent activity in 2011, to supporting the Bafta Scholarships programme and assisting with the most far-reaching fundraising campaign Bafta has ever undertaken.”
Prince William and Kate have attended the celebration multiple times in the past- 2017, 2018, and 2019. Last year, the Duchess looked like and angel in a gorgeous asymmetric white gown by Alexander McQueen. The Prince donned a black dinner suit.
