Prince William And Kate Meet Scouts In Glasgow After Half-Term Break

Following the half-term break with their children, Prince William and Kate are back to royal duties. On Monday, the royal couple traveled to Glasgow for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), a two-week summit in which world leaders, including President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Boris Johnson, will come together to discuss how to address climate change, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and slowing global warming.

Prince William and Kate visited Alexandra Park Sports Hub in Dennistoun to meet young Scouts and learn more about the Scouts’ #PromiseToThePlanet campaign.

Kate, who is joint president of The Scout Association alongside the Duke of Kent, and William took part in various activities such as grilled up veggie burgers, made and scattered wildflower seed ‘bombs,’ and mastered the basics of bicycle maintenance.

For the occasion, Kate looked simply stunning in a black ribbed long-sleeved jumper and a khaki green quilted gilet combined with See by Chloe boots.

Scout Leader Eddie O’Rourke said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met Scouts taking part in our Promise To The Planet Planet campaign. They were a real inspiration to all the Scouts that are working hard to make changes to protect the planet.

Later today, Prince Willam and Kate together with Prince Charles and Camilla will host a reception for the key members of the Sustainable Markets Initiative and the Winners and Finalists of the first Earthshot Prize Awards. The couple will also attend an evening reception alongside Charles and Camilla.

Queen Elizabeth was initially expected to attend COP26, but as it was reported she had“reluctantly” accepted medical advice and canceled her trip to Northern Ireland.

She has been advised to rest for “next few days,” the palace said in a statement. However, a source close to the palace has stated that it is “not Covid related.”

“Her Majesty is in good spirits and is disappointed that she will no longer be able to visit Northern Ireland, where she had been due to undertake a series of engagements today and tomorrow,” was said in the statement.
