Why Meghan Markle Won’t Be Godmother To Prince Louis?
Apparently, Meghan has the least chance to be godmother of two-month-old Prince Louis. She figures down the list at 14/1 odds.
Few days ago, Kensington Palace announced the date of Prince Louis’s christening. The baby will be baptized on July 9, but we still don’t know his godparents. They will be announced that day.
Also, Prince Harry is not a godparent neither to George nor Charlotte. It is believed that the couple wanted some friends to do the honor.
Richard Fitzwlliams told Express.co.uk that Meghan Markle is unlikely to fill the important role because she is “new” to the Royal Family. He said the role of a godmother is usually reserved for those who have been “close” to Kate and William for “years”.
Mr Fitzwilliams said: “I doubt they would choose Meghan because they won’t have known her that well.
According to Jessica Bridge, of British bookmakers Ladbrokes: “As with George and Charlotte, [William and Kate] chose close and trusted friends and aides, rather than immediate family members, and the odds suggest that will be the same with little Prince Louis.”
Among the favourites, according to bookmakers Ladbrokes, is William’s outgoing private secretary Miguel Head. Also William and Harry’s nanny, Tiggy Pettifer is thought to be a choice.
Pettifer listed as 2/1 and Head is at 5/4.
Kate’s former private secretary Rebecca Priestley is also a candidate at 4/1.
William van Cutsem is George’s godfather. So maybe William and Kate will pick one of his siblings – Hugh, Edward or Nicholas. Or maybe Hugh’s wife, Rose.
William is godfather to Hugh and Rose’s daughter Grace. If you remember, she’s the bridesmaid at William and Kate’s wedding, who was covering her ears at the flypast.
Another candidate it is though to be The Duchess of Cornwall’s daughter, Laura Lopes. Her daughter, Eliza was one of William and Kate’s bridesmaids. Laura Lopes is listed at 3/1.
David Jardine-Patterson, at 5/1, is the husband of Emilia, who is a godmother to Prince George.
William’s cousin Peter Phillips has odds of 8/1, while Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are at 7/1.
The childrens nanny Maria Turrion Borrallo has odds of 16/1.
Another candidates are Princess Diana’s sisters. Lady Jane Fellowes: She did a reading at Harry and Meghan’s wedding. Also, her other one, Lady Sarah McCorquodale. Her odds are of 6/1.
Pippa and James Middleton, Kate’s siblings are both 10/1 chances.
