Meredith, just six years old, wanted to cheer up the Princess, so she decided to draw the Queen with her corgis, and along with a letter, send it in to the young royal.

“Dear Princess Charlotte. I drew you a picture of your grandma walking her dogs to remember her.I am six and one day would like to feed the corgis. Love Meredith.”

Meredith received a response in the form of an official letter from Kensington Palace, a smiling photo of Queen Elizabeth and a thank you from William and Kate.

Princess Charlotte was always close to her late great-grandmother the Queen, affectionately calling her ‘Gan-Gan’ – how sweet!

A common point of note between royal watchers were the physical similarities between the royal pair, and their connection could be strengthened even now, as King Charles is considering giving Charlotte one of the Queen’s titles.

The title of Duchess of Edinburgh, one of the most senior within the family, it reflects the Princess’ position as third in line to the throne, and is also a fitting tribute to Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Elizabeth, from her marriage and until her accession to the throne of the United Kingdom, was styled Her Royal Highness The Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh. Duke of Edinburgh was held as his main title by Prince Philip until his death in April 2021.
