Will The British Royal Wedding Be A Bank Holiday?

The first question almost everyone got on their minds after the announcement of the engagement was what will they name their kids… Of course not, we all asked if we will get a day from work or school?

Back when William and Kate got married on the 29th of April 2011, we all got a bonus day off.

So should we expect the same for the younger prince?

Unfortunately, the government has stated that there are no plans for such a thing.

Where Will Be Royal Wedding?

Windsor Castle

A church wedding is expected, even though Meghan is a divorcee after the Archbishop of Canterbury said that the newly engaged couple has chosen to make their vows before God.

The Most Rev. Justin Welby, who is expected to be the one that will be performing the ceremony, says he is absolutely delighted to hear the news.

He also wished them many years of love, happiness, and fulfillment.

Last night Betfair had St Georges Chapel at Windsor Castle to be the most likely venue. It is the place where Prince Charles and Camilla had their blessings there back in 2005 and it was where Harry was christened.

However, another contender might be a much bigger option, St Paul’s Cathedral, which can accommodate 2000 guests, while St Georges only 800.

St Paul’s is where Harry’s parents, Charles and Diana, got married in 1981.

It has been used for lots of other royal celebrations and events, such as Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee and the Queen Mother’s 100th birthday, as well as the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilees.

Wedding Party

Meghan having quite the squad of girls in Toronto, so there should be an entire list of friends wanting to be bridesmaids. One of them might be the Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney, 37, whose father-in-law was the former prime minister of Canada Brian Mulroney. She hasn’t left Meghan’s side since she moved to Canada and the two met and since they have been regularly seen together in public.

Another possible bridesmaid might be the US actress and former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra, 35, who met Meghan at a party in Toronto two years ago. The Quantico and Baywatch star, who also has over 50 Bollywood movies on her record, shares Meghan’s passion for charity work and also had Meghan’s back during a recent appearance on a US talk show, where she scolded the host Wendy Williams for calling Meghan ” Prince Harry’s girlfriend”, because that is apparently illegal to do. She continued rambling on about Meghan Markle stating “Also Meghan Markle … you know, an actress in Suits, her own achievements…”. Also in the bracket of possible picks for bridesmaids is WTA tennis player Serena Williams, who she met back in 2014 during a charity football match. The one person that is most unlikely to be chosen is Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Grant, because who doesn’t like some family drama just before entering marriage. She has called Meghan a “social climber” as she had “a soft spot for gingers”, however it seems that she has come out with an apology for her behavior in the past.

When it comes to who will be the Page Boy and the Flower Girl, most people are hoping that Prince George and Princess Charlotte take on the role. Meanwhile, bookies have already set the odds for Prince William being the best Man at 1/10.

Wedding Dress

Picking out a wedding dress is no easy task, but thankfully Meghan has the help of her stylist friend Jessica Mulroney.

We have seen Meghan in a beautiful gown when she modeled for Canada’s Hello magazine, from Jessica Kleinfeld’s bridal shop. The picture was reposted last year, with Meghan wearing a princess-style full-skirted gown with the caption #Princess goals.

She has also previously stated that she will “always be a fan of Elie Saab” when asked about her dream wedding dress, the Lebanese designer know for embroidery and embellishments.

We can also pinpoint what she might not want. While she also liked the Barge Versailles dress she wore when her Suits character Rachel Zane was left standing on the altar on her wedding day by Mike Ross. Meghan complained that the dress was a little bit too formal for her as she says “It’s not my personal style because I’m a lot more relaxed than Rachel but I love that I got to play dress up in this gown.” Meghan, for her first wedding day, from her first failed marriage, wore a simple strapless white dress with a silver belt.

Royal Wedding Guests

From the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall to Harry’s pals Tom Inskip, Thomas van Straubenzee, Arthur Landon and Guy Pelly, are all be expected to attend the ceremony on the groom’s side. And of course not to forget the Duchess of Cambridge who will be either late in her pregnancy or already mom for the third time at the time. Natalie Pinkham, Ben Fogle, Joss Stone and The Obamas are also likely to be on Harry’s list, while he’ll also be welcoming to Meghan’s family-he is said to have good relationships with Meghan’s yoga-loving mom Doria, and has spoken to her dad Tom, a former Married with children director, however he hasn’t met him yet, because why meet the father of your wife to be?

We also expect lots of co-stars from the series Suits, like Patrick J Adams and his wife, Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario, and Gabriel Macht and his Bridget Jones’ actress wife Jacinda Barrett. She’s also likely to invite co-stars Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres, best known for hit Firefly, who she previously asked for advice, saying: “Sarah and Gina give me such great advice – not just on being a good actor but being a wife and mom someday.”

Bridesmaids

While details of the big day are still hush-hush, it’s likely Meghan will have already picked out her bridesmaids. She has also thanked her girl squad for their unwavering support, especially as the public tried to find out as much as they can about the girl that stole Harry’s heart.

Jewels

The actress is always seen wearing her grandma’s charm bracelet on her left wrist, so she will probably wear it with the other royal jewels she will be given.

And about that ring, wow. Worth 50,000 pounds, personally designed by Harry, with a center diamond from Botswana, where they were on holiday for her birthday. On either side, there is a diamond from his mother Princess Diana’s personal collection.

Concerning the make-up, she has it covered. Her good friend who has made her make-up tons of times, Tanya Burr, will take care of everything. When asked about her beauty secrets, she admitted that she is a big fan of the contouring by the Kardashians. Aint that swell. She said: “The power of concealer, with the hours we work, is pretty brutal. The highlight and the contour and just knowing your angles. And of course hydrating is the biggest secret.”

Hen and stag dos

Las Vegas

In the past Meghan has talked about what her ideal hen do would be, saying: “The thought of running around a city trying to get into clubs and wearing headbands of the phallic persuasion didn’t seem very ‘on brand’ for us”.

Instead of that, she thinks that a getaway in Europe would be the perfect destination and raved about pal Lindsay Roth’s hen do in Hydra, Greece.

Meghan said of it: “There is something cathartic about being able to turn it all off – to sunbathe with no one watching, swim in the briny Mediterranean, eat copious amounts of Greek salads.”

People are already guessing that Harry might return to Las Vegas, which reminds us of his naked billiard game in 2012. But with his love of privacy, he’s more likely to follow William and have a bash at a private country house.

Reception

Sophie Ellis-Bextor

It seems that Meghan and her character in Suits Rachel, have a mutual obsession with food. She said she loves “fresh seafood and wonderful wine”. And she has posted her favorite recipes, including sweet potato and white bean soup and smoked salmon and dill dip. Meghan’s other specialty is roast chicken, which coincidentally was what they were having when he proposed.

And who will play at the wedding? Meghan is an avid pop fan. She lists English singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor and French band Christine and The Queens on her playlist of favorites, describing them as “a little euphonious pick-me-up”.

Harry and Meghan are both fans of American rock band The Killers, of which they have enjoyed a public date at their concert in the summer.
