Meghan Cheers On Friend Serena Williams At U.S. Open Final
Meghan attended the U.S. Open Final at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Saturday, to cheer on her longtime pal, Serena Williams.
The Duchess was all smiles in Williams’ box where she sat behind Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, and in front of Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour.
As always, the Meghan’s skin looked flawless and her minimal makeup look let her natural features shine. She sported a blue denim J.Crew dress paired with a stylish white coat draped casually over her shoulders.
During the competition, Meghan also spent some time chatting with the tennis champ’s husband, Alexis. They were photographed hugging, which proves that Meghan is very close with the couple.
Meghan and Serena first met at the 2010 Super Bowl in Miami where they immediately hit it off. Serena and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, were also guests at Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2019.
Williams also helped throw a baby shower for her friend in N.Y.C.earlier this year and after Archie was born she was one of the first visitors.
However, she couldn’t attend his christening in July, because she was busy competing on the court at Wimbledon, where Meghan made an appearance to cheer on her friend alongside Kate and Pippa Middleton.
Serena had opened up about her friendship with Meghan: “She’s such a great friend and a great person as well. And always positive, no matter what.”
“It’s so good to have people like that, just to know,” adding that Meghan is “such a fan of the sport.”
This is Meghan’s first trip to New York City since her baby shower in February when she partied with her friends. It also marks her first time away from her son Archie since his birth in May.
Meghan caught a last-minute flight to the US on Friday, without her husband Prince Harry, son Archie or her team of staff.
The Duchess, whose flying habits have come under heavy scrutiny, traveled on a commercial flight.
Meghan is expected to return to Britain on Sunday. “It is a last-minute trip,” a source told The Times.
“Excited to support her friend, and then come back.”
