Prince William And Kate Stun Crowds As They Arrive At Earthshot Awards

On Sunday evening, Prince William and Kate stepped out on the green carpet at Alexandra Palace, north London, for the Earthshot Prize Awards. Organized by Prince William and The Royal Foundation, the prize is designed to find inspiring and innovative solutions to environmental challenges from around the world.

This year’s Earthshot categories are: “clean air”,” protect and restore nature”, “revive our oceans”, “build a waste-free world”, and “fix our climate.”

For the glam event, Duchess Kate recycled her lilac Alexander McQueen gown with a gold beaded waistband. Prince William opted for a dark green velvet blazer paired with black trousers and a black turtleneck.

Ahead of the Earthshot Prize Awards, Prince Charles praised his son Prince William in a message commending the Duke of Cambridge’s commitment to environmental advocacy through his official Instagram.

“I am very proud of my son, William, for his growing commitment to the environment and the bold ambition of The Earthshot Prize,” he wrote. “As a world, we need to come together to inspire, reimagine and build the sustainable future we so desperately need.”

High-profile guests are set to light up the night. The Earthshot Prize Award Ceremony is set to include performances from Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, YemiAlade, KSI and Shawn Mendes.

The five winners of The Earthshot Prize will receive £1 million each every year for the next ten years, which will provide at least 50 solutions to the world’s greatest environmental problems by the next decade. They will be announced by a line-up of presenters which includes The Duchess of Cambridge, Emma Watson and Emma Thompson.

Chief executive of the Royal Foundation, Jason Knauf, explains: “The Earthshot Prize has been designed to celebrate our finalists as the visionary leaders that they are. The blockbuster roster of artists, athletes and presenters that have signed on for our inaugural awards show proves just how much excitement there is for optimistic action to rise to the great challenges of our time.

“This will be an award show unlike any you’ve seen before that will entertain you and inspire you to take action to repair the planet in this decisive decade.”
