“Either we continue as we are and irreparably damage our planet or we remember our unique power as human beings… and problem-solve”
With the start of a new decade, Prince William and Kate Middleton have already started one of their most ambitious pledge, whose goal will be to help tackle the ever-growing threat that climate change poses for the planet and our future on it.
The royal couple announced the new Earth shot Prize in a new film narrated by none other than Sir David Attenborough, a well-known fighter for the planet and wildlife. Per the BBC, “the cash prize will be for individuals or organizations who come up with solutions to environmental problems”.
Prince William and Kate Middleton went to Instagram with the news, sharing a picture of William “at a glacier in the Hindu Kush mountain range,” along with a statement that read: “The earth is at a tipping point and we face a stark choice”.
“Led by Prince William and a global alliance, the @EarthshotPrize will inspire the planet’s greatest problem solvers to solve Earth’s greatest problems: the emergencies facing our natural world.”
Kensington palace also gave reference to the whole situation through a statement, saying some of the most crucial of those problems being related to “climate and energy, nature and biodiversity, oceans, air pollution, and freshwater.”
