Harry And Meghan Back At Royal Duties With A Visit To Canada House

Following a six-week festive break in North America, the Sussexes are back! On Tuesday, Prince Harry and Meghan made their first public appearance of 2020.

The couple is back at work today after spending some time as a family away from the public spotlight.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Canada House in London to meet with High Commissioner in London, Her Excellency Janice Charette. The visit was scheduled to thank staff for the “warm” hospitality they received during their time in the country over Christmas.

Meghan arrived at Canada House dressed in a tan coat and brown turtleneck, and a slip skirt. She and Harry travelled directly from their private visit at the Hubb Community Kitchen.

Harry and Meghan’s appearance was announced in less than 24 hours ago by Buckingham Palace. Their stay in Canada was not an official tour or visit, and so a courtesy meeting was not obligatory.

But, the couple has always made clear they like to cast aside convention and do what is least expected. Their gesture is pretty impressive.

During the visit, Prince Harry and Meghan also visited the Canada Gallery and view a special exhibition by Indigenous Canadian artist Skawennati.

The last time we saw Harry and Meghan in public was on Remembrance Sunday in November. Since then, they have been enjoying some private time with their eight-month-old son Archie in Canada.

Meghan and Harry’s spokesperson confirmed the two were vacationing in Canada right before Christmas.

“As has been reported, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending private time in Canada.

“The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both. Whilst this emails confirms the country they are taking their family time in, for security reasons we will not be releasing any further details and request that their privacy is respected.

“The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family. They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”
