Outlander Season 4 Cast: Sam Says Caitriona Has Been Replaced?
With their undeniable chemistry and the natural way they act, one might assume that Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are a couple off-screen as well. There have been reports that the Outlander main roles were getting quite flirty during filming Outlander season 4. There were tons of rumors and fan speculations, but nothing was confirmed.

The dating rumors sparked one again when Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were sighted at a rugby game together in South Africa in April 2017. Daily Mail reported that the Outlander Season 4 actor even shared a photo of them via Twitter. “Thank you @THESTORMERS What a result!!!!!,” Sam wrote in the caption.

But these rumors quickly went down the drain, as a month after being seen together, Sam introduced his girlfriend MacKenzie Mauzy during his 37 birthday party. The Ourlander stars posed along with his co-star the 29-year old American actress for a photo. With this they confirmed that the pair were definitely not romantically involved.
And to beat a dead horse even further, there have been reports saying that Caitriona Balfe was already engaged to Tony McGill, ending the rumors once and for all. During the 2018 Golden Globes, the 38-year-old Irish actress revealed to People that she is set to tie the knot with her boyfriend of two years. “It happened over the break. I’m very happy,” the on-screen partner of Sam Heughan told the news outlet.
Their relationship has been out of the public eye for the most part. In 2015, some devoted supporters of Sam Heughan’s leading lady had seen an Instagram video of the actress sitting on Tony’s lap. The couple also appeared at the 2017 Oscar Wilde Awards together.
Meanwhile, Sam Heughan revealed to us that Caitriona Balfe had to be replaced for certain scenes in season 4 of Outlander as she failed to show up for the shoot. The boyfriend of MacKenzie Mauzy said Gemma played the role of Claire Fraser during a read through while his on-screen partner was away.

This news came a few days after Caitriona Balfe confirmed her engagement. And as one rumor ends, another starts. Now fans are speculating that after Outlander Season 4, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will part ways and move on to different projects.
However there are also rumors that Starz are already in talks for a fifth installment. We will have to just wait and see as nothing is confirmed yet.
